Altar Servers

Altar servers perform an invaluable service to the community. They help the liturgy flow seamlessly and enrich the prayer experience of the community of faith by their own personal witness, commitment and prayerful attitude.

Centering Prayer

In the Christian tradition, contemplative prayer is considered to be a pure gift of God. It is the opening of mind and heart –our whole being—to God, the Ultimate Mystery, beyond thoughts, words or emotions. Centering Prayer is a wordless and non-conceptual form of prayer that prepares us to receive the gift of contemplation, that is, intimacy and communion with God.

Communion to Catholic patients at Mt. Sinai

Visiting the sick is one of the Corporal works of Mercy. Our priests visit regularly Mt. Sinai Hospital, sick parishioners and the homebound to administer the sacraments. Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion assist in a most special way by bringing communion to the sick and homebound.

Children’s Nest of Prayers

A Children’s Nest of Prayers is made up of a group of children who come together to pray the Rosary, as the Blessed Virgin requested at Fatima and as padre Pio of Pietralcina desired. These groups form the Armata Bianca of Our Lady: the Army of little children guided by the Queen of Heaven to win the whole world to Her Divine Son, Jesus.

Emmanuel Community

The Emmanuel Community is a Catholic lay international community that brings together faithful that share a common call and commit themselves to actively live their faith in their daily lives thus fulfilling their call as the first believers did who had “only one heart and one soul!” (Acts 4:32).

The first Emmaus Retreat was held in the Archdiocese of Miami at the Dominican Retreat House in 1978. It was developed and conducted by a team of laywomen from St. Louis Church in Kendall and since has spread to parishes throughout the Archdiocese of Miami, other cities, states and even internationally.

Natural Family Planning

In the context of a culture which seriously distorts or entirely misinterprets the true meaning of human sexuality, because it separates it from its essential reference to the person, the Church more urgently feels how irreplaceable is her mission of presenting sexuality as a value and task of the whole person, created male and female in the image of God.
