In the Christian tradition, contemplative prayer is considered to be a pure gift of God. It is the opening of mind and heart –our whole being—to God, the Ultimate Mystery, beyond thoughts, words or emotions. Centering Prayer is a wordless and non-conceptual form of prayer that prepares us to receive the gift of contemplation, that is, intimacy and communion with God.
